What we do

Large groups are a variety of workouts put on for the whole society twice a month. Examples include beach Zumba, Barre, and Yoga. You don't need to sign up - just rock up! This is a great opportunity to try something new and meet people in the society!

We insist on being as inclusive as possible, and our workouts reflect that with a selection between high, low, and medium intensity. Whilst we often host our own workouts, we also collab with other societies to offer you sessions in fencing, swimming, and even pole dancing!

You can opt into a weekly small group workout with your own small group leader. These workouts are a variety from walks on the beach, runs, and HIIT style. The groups range from 5-10 people. This is a great way to get a more regular workout in while also bonding as a group.

Our buddy scheme is also optional, but we couldn't recommend it any more! Our buddy coordinators will pair you with someone who has similar interests, whether that be running, cooking or knitting! This is a great way to make a new friend, set goals and complete challenges. 

Socials are open to all members and include nights out, movie nights, dinner parties, and much more. We throw socials that include alcohol but also socials that don't so whatever your idea of a good night out (or in) is then we've got you covered! Have a look on our committee tab to find some friendly faces you can speak to at our socials.  

We place a lot of emphasis on wellbeing, our wellbeing officer is there to support all of our members and we also throw dedicated wellbeing socials. We try to centre more calming and stress busting events around exams as well as trying to create a supportive community.

The Galentines Ball is our pride and joy. It is the one event a year that takes pride in celebrating women and friendship above all else. Come and join us for an evening of fun every February.

EmpowHER was created in 2020 in the middle of a lockdown and so connecting our members has always been an important part of our ethos. All of our activities hope to connect like-minded individuals. We know that university can be isolating at times, and so EmpowHER aims to build friendships and support systems that can help you when the going gets tough.
